Meet the Executive Board of the Sustainability Committee, current DPT Students at Emory University.
Eric Holshouser, SPT, PE
President
Hometown: Jacksonville, FL
Class Year: 2021
Eric is a graduate of the University of Florida where he earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in civil engineering in 2011 and 2012, respectively. Before pursuing a career in physical therapy, he earned his professional engineering license in the state of Florida, and has over 4 years of industry experience in civil design and construction of large-scale Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects. Eric comes to Emory eager to find creative movement-based solutions to prevent the growing number of chronic disabilities in our country. His interests include orthopedic physical therapy, population health, optimal aging, entrepreneurship and exploring how the built and natural environment can enhance human movement. He joined the sustainability committee because he believes a sustainable, movement-based culture is essential for high quality healthcare, and that the industry can only be as healthy as the social, economic and environmental systems that support it.
During his free time, Eric enjoys playing basketball, running, all types of comedy, spending quality time with friends and family and cheering on his hometown Jacksonville Jaguars.
Avie graduated from the University of Alabama in 2018 with a Bachelor of Education in exercise science and a minor in nutrition. Within the realm of physical therapy, Avie is interested in acute care. Specifically, she wants to work with trauma patients.
Sustainability is important to Avie because she believes everyone can play a small part. She is here to encourage people to enjoy the world around them while simultaneously treating it with respect.
